With great interest, here comes another reason to have our troops and our deficit spending budget at work in Afghanistan and Pakistan (what happened to Iraq? Remember that place?). The Headline said ” Our goal is to protect US, allies from terrorists in Af-Pak: Hillary”
[ED NOTE: If that is the goal, what is the plan to achieve that goal? It is an impossible goal without killing everyone in the AF-PAK region.]
WASHINGTON: Asserting that the Afghanistan-Pakistan border is the epicentre of terrorism, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton has said the goal of the Obama Administration is to protect the US and its allies from terrorists living in this part of the world.
“Our goal is to protect the United States, our allies, our friends around the world, from what is the epicentre of terrorism; namely, the Afghanistan-Pakistan border, Clinton said in an interview with News Hour.
“Some people say, well, al-Qaida is no longer in Afghanistan. If Afghanistan were taken over by the Taliban, I can’t tell you how fast al-Qaida would be back in Afghanistan,” she said. The Obama administration is trying to sort out all of the different factors and come to the resolution based on the best information it has, she said. Clinton said the new Afghan policy would be on hold till the new government in that country is in place. The results of the August 20 presidential elections are yet to be declared. It is taking an unduly long time than expected because of the large scale allegations of voters fraud.
Ok, here’s what has happened. There were a series of Hornet’s nests all across Afghanistan (villages to us) and Pakistan villages (the border areas, in reality Pashtunistan), and two areas that Pakistan did not bother with at all, the Federally Administered Tribal Area (that Pakistan DID NOT administer) and the Northern Frontier Area. So after 9/11, the U.S. goes and starts to smash the Hornet’s nests. There are so many nests, and so much damage done to the nests, making the Hornet’s go crazy at their hives being destroyed and the queen bee (family members) being lost, they seek Revenge, one of the top things that the Hornet’s hold dear. We have created so many angry Hornets, and we continue to do so daily. Hornets are known to chase people great distances if they are disturbed or their nests are damaged.
The Hornet’s (Pashtuns) function under a code called Pashtunwali. Over the centuries, complex and sophisticated conflict-resolution mechanisms, legal codes, and alternative forms of governance have developed in the region. The rural Pashtuns prefer their own mechanisms to alien, external ones, because, in their perceptions, theirs are clearly superior, said Thomas Johnson/M. Chris Mason in No Sign until the Burst of Fire.
We can’t rebuild the nests, or bring back the lost Hornets. We chased the Wasps and killed the Hornets. It is a very miserable thing to have done and continute to do to the colony of hives and their inhabitants. These inhabitants are humans, just like you and me and your loved ones, your daughters, your sons, your sisters, your brothers, your spouse, your parents, your grandparents, your grandchildren. Feel for them. End the War.
