U.S. to attack Quetta, Balochistan with Drones? Pakistan Government will Fail.

It’s Drone day again. Read one of our past Drone stories here The U.S. is stepping up its use of Drones to attack “terrorists” and “al Queda members” in Pakistan’s border cities with Afghanistan. Now the talk is to go after Mullah Omar and other leaders the U.S. believes are in Quetta, the capitol city of Balochistan, a city with 750,000 residents.

The Pakistan Government will fail if this happens. Their lands are being attacked by the U.S. now through the Drone attacks along the Afghanistan border cities and North and South Waziristan, and it is not widely reported that the President Zardari’s approval rating is below 34% and sinking. Soon, if this Drone attack on Quetta goes ahead, President Zardari will be called a puppet of the U.S. government. Over 65% of the Pakistan population believes that the U.S. is their worst enemy. We are destabilizing the area further every day. Read our Balochistan stories here, here, and here

A Taliban commander, Hayatullah Khan, told Reuters by telephone that the entire Taliban leadership was in Afghanistan.

‘Pakistan is not safe for us. More of our people have been captured in Pakistan than in Afghanistan so everybody is here including Mullah Omar,’ said Khan, who said he was speaking from Afghanistan, although he declined to be specific. ‘The Americans are making the Quetta shura an excuse for an expansion of their drone strikes to Balochistan, nothing else,’ said Khan. Pakistan, battling al Qaeda-linked Pakistani Taliban militants in NWFP province, to the north of Balochistan, insists that the Taliban leadership is not in present in Queta. The United States has launched nearly 60 strikes in northwest Pakistan since the beginning of 2008, but none has been in Baluchistan. US Ambassador to Pakistan Anne W. Patterson told the Washington Post the Quetta shura was ‘high on Washington’s list’.
