US aiding South Waziristan offensive
LAHORE: US drones are providing intelligence and surveillance videos to support the Pakistan Army’s offensive in South Waziristan, the Los Angeles Times reported on Friday.t said it was the first time Islamabad had accepted such assistance, which marked the “deepest American involvement yet in a Pakistani military campaign”. [Ed. Note: There is speculation that Special Forces have been active in Pakistan, with boots on the ground. Now, the Pakistan Government and President Zardari are working with the American Military on Pakistan lands to oust the “Taliban”. The Pakistan citizens will rise up to this involvement. See our stories here, here. and here on this subject.
What do Afghans do for group entertainment?
One of the best photojournalists, Seamus Murphy posted this visual story in 2007: “Bodahna, an Afghanistan Obsession.” It is capturing the bird named Bodahna, and training it, then holding a fight between two birds. There is betting on who will win. But the owners of the birds, once one bird has been pecked too many times, surrenders before the bird is damaged. Look at the group of men (no women are there, are they allowed?) in a room with two little birds ready to fight. A simple life. Can they ever return to the simple life? That is all they want, to live and raise their families. See more of Seamus Murphy’s photographic stories here.
Let the young men raise their Bodhana’s again and live a normal life. End the War(s)
